31 Days to Clean Challenge--Review & Giveaway

CRAFTY IS THE WINNER

HAPPY CLEANING :)

Tomorrow morning I begin a 31 day challenge using the above e-book. Click here to read Day 1 along with me. This is more than just a daily guide on how to keep your house clean. This book involves the heart also.  It is so important for any task to have our heart attitude in the right place.  Sure we can DO, but what good is the doing if our attitude stinks!

Wednesday's Hodgepodge

Here's a new hop I found for Wednesday
Come on over and join up :)

1. What makes you stand to your feet and cheer?
Sad  to say a football game.  Or any game that I am winning  :0

2. What's your favorite patriotic song?
Let Freedom Ring---- a Word of Life song

3. Do you believe that opposites attract? If you have a significant other are you opposites?
It surely seems that way.  I don't understand it.....and yes, my husband and I are total opposites!

4. You're going to get a behind the scenes look someplace where would you like that someplace to be?
Wow, I have no idea  ?????

5. How far would you have to travel to ride a carousel (merry-go-round)?
A couple of hours at least.

6. When was the last time you saw fireworks? What was the occasion? Do you enjoy fireworks?
Last 4th of July...yes, they were very nice.

7. Of all the 'beauty products' you own, what item do you consider to be the most overpriced?
If it was overpriced, I didn't buy it :)

8. Insert your own random thought here.
As I sit here I'm thinking that I need to take a shower.  I was working outside and got all sweaty.  Now I feel sticky and gross... BUT I don't like to shower before bed.  Tonight will be an exception, I think :)

WHAT ARE YOUR ANSWERS?

Do Tell Game review & giveaway

THANKS TO ALL WHO ENTERED
I HAVE REACHED
900 FOLLOWERS
WITH THIS GIVEAWAY ;)

THE WINNER IS
LAURIE!
I KNOW YOU WILL
ENJOY THIS GAME!

I had the pleasure of reviewing this new game:  Do Tell.  They advertise as being a relationship building game. With questions like:

"How would you feel if you found out there was going to be another family member coming to live with you?"

or this one

"Demonstrate what you do when you are playing a video game with a friend and they are winning"

This is either going to build relationships or.....well, you fill in the blank :)

As a homeschooling mom, I feel this game would be a great addition to any school day.  Start off your day by connecting with that child that has had a 'certain' attitude that just won't quit.  Maybe during the game you will be able to connect again and find out what has been bugging them.  OR just take a break from the 'books' and learn about each other.

Encourage your kids to memorize a couple of questions to ask their friends or maybe that new neighbor down the street to use as a tool to get to know them. The possibilities for learning are endless!

My family played this the other night...family included son, daughter, myself and gramma.  We had much fun and learned a bit about each other.  It was funny because sometimes we helped each other with their answer if their mind went blank or if they gave a wrong answer :)  LOL

Our first game we played according to the rules.  BUT I am very competitive and this game is NOT a competitive game...it is a relationship building game SO we changed it up a bit.  We had to write down what we thought the other person's answer would be.  Whoever's answer matched, they moved ahead the roll of the dice.

This is a great game to help get to know one another a bit better.  If you prefer competitive games...I'd say you can make it competitive like we did!  It was enjoyable for all of  us.  Believe it or not, my  17 year old son enjoyed it the most.....go figure

A sad truth about Judas

Shaped by God

Judas bore the cloak of religion, but he never knew the heart of Christ.
We learn this timeless lesson from the betrayer. Satan’s best tools of destruction are not from outside the church; they are within the church. A church will never die from the immorality in Hollywood or the corruption in Washington. But it will die from corrosion within—from those who bear the name of Jesus but have never met him and from those who have religion but no relationship.
Judas bore the cloak of religion, but he never knew the heart of Christ. Let’s make it our goal to know … deeply.

From Shaped by God (original title: On the Anvil)

As I read this it made me sad....to think there are people in my life who, like Judas, wear a cloak of religion, but don't know Christ.
I HAVE to share Jesus with them.
I HAVE to love these lost souls more than I love acceptance from them.
I HAVE to make it my goal to know the heart of Christ so deeply that others SEE Him instead of me.

The day I heard: IT'S A BOY :)

What is it with wives and desiring to give their husbands a son?

Don't we realize we really have no control over the gender?

Scientifically, the male decides the gender...

yet, after having 2 wonderful daughters, I wanted to give my hubby a son.

Back in my child-bearing days (boy, that makes me sound so old!), we didn't know for sure the gender until we heard the doctor announce it!

Well, I heard those words I longed for

 "It's a boy!"

 on June 23, 1991
when Ethan James  joined our ever growing family.

The other 'moms'

Little did I know what an adventure this tiny little boy was going to bring to my life!

Boys really ARE different than girls....and not just in anatomy either :)
My boy was VERY demanding.
When he wanted mama, it was NOW...or anything for that matter.  He made sure everyone around him knew he was NOT happy and that something better be done to take care of his happiness.

Really now?  Could you refuse this face?

As he grew he was put through a lot of 'girl' stuff with 2 older sisters...playing dress-up, doing fashion shows, being dressed as a girl, performing in his oldest sister's plays or videos.
Yet even after all that....he was all boy.    He would get Mandie-moo to climb trees, walk in the woods (sometimes getting lost), and do the 'boy' things with him until his brother finally came along 4 years later!

Yes, brother survived :)

All my children are blessed with lots of hair.  First haircut was at 6 months.  Thankfully Pepere was a barber as bi-monthly haircuts were necessary.  Mom attempted a few times, but after cutting one kid's ear, I hung up my shears.
I love this face!

Educating him was not all that bad until he became a teen at which time he thought he knew much more than I being that I was 'only a woman'.  I remember many days my husband coming home and my begging him to take him to work with him...PLEASE.  He needs his dad's influence.  I had to wait until he was 16 before that happened!

Somehow as I was watching my little boy turned into a caring, gentle, wonderful man....when did it happen?  How did we get from 1991 to 2011 so quickly?

Now my little boy is doing these things to scare the bejebees out of me!

And the saddest, yet bittersweet part of it all is I am no longer the only woman in his life...... I've got some adorable competition!

I am grateful for this amazing blessing of a son....MY SON.  He will always be mommy's little boy...no matter how old, or who else enters his life.  There is a special place this mom's heart for her firstborn son.  I am excited to watch the years to come to see where God is going to bring this man....my little boy :)

I love you Eebajay!

Women of Faith Worship CD

Music is one of those items that is a  matter of taste.  Kind of like chocolate...everyone likes it but there are differences  in which is best....white, dark, semi-sweet, with nuts-without, added caramel or peanut butter---on and on.

Wits & Wagers Family Game Review & Giveaway

How many Hershey's Kisses are made with 1 pound of chocolate?

96

The randomly chosen winner is:
 Laurie

Thanks for playing :)

One word can sum up this game from North Star Games:

 FUN!

Ever play one of those trivia games and you don't know any answers, but someone else does, every time?  You just can't win.  Kind of takes all the fun out of the game.

Well, that's me.  I play those type games and feel VERY stupid....feeling stupid is no fun :(

That's probably why I liked Wits and Wagers Family so much.  No one is supposed to really know the answers.  But you can learn a lot of interesting information by playing.  And get a lot of laughs in the process.

For example, do you know?
How many Hershey's Kisses are made with 1 pound of chocolate?
Just give them to me, I'll take them all!
I didn't, but do now...

How about this one:
On average, how many times a day does a teenager talk on the cell phone?
any guesses?

The answer to every question is a number.

Here's a quick rundown on how to play:

1) A question is asked.
2) Everyone writes down a guess.
3) The guesses are placed face-up on the table and ordered smallest to largest.
4) Place your Meeples (colored playing pieces, 1 small, 1 large) on the guess that you think is closest without going over to the right answer.

Scoring
You can score up to 4 points on each question:
1 point for correctly placing the Small Meeple
2 points for correctly placing the Large Meeple
1 point if your guess is closest
The first player to 15 points wins.

This would be a great game to play to jazz up your homeschool day. Or even just pull out a question and research the answer to learn more about it.  Just don't tell the kids that they are learning. :)

It's quick and easy to learn, yet packed with fun!
