Making a Family Quilt

I am a newbie quilter.  Many years ago I did make a "Log Cabin Quilt in a Day".  It took so much work and time to finish that twin size quilt that I never made another one.
Recently I was encouraged by my sister-in-law to get back into quilting. She is an avid quilter.  She offered to help me get started.  So with her help I dove into a very large project:  a queen size quilt for my daughter and son-in-law as a wedding gift.
Here is a picture of it finished:

As you can see each square is different.  I chose a star pattern, picked the fabrics, then involved the whole family.  I sent each family group samples of the fabrics, square template and instructions.  They were to design a square.  When I received all the sample designed squares, I made 18" squares per each design then sewed them together, added sashes and a border to construct the quilt.   So this is a "family project".
I'm not so sure I would suggest that a newbie make a quilt this size, as involved or one as a
wedding present. :)
I put many hours into the sewing and quilting of this.  Every hour I concentrated on and prayed for my daughter, my future son-law and their marriage.

Since this quilt I have made 3 more and working on another.  The other 3 were a particular type that has become my favorite for its ease and simplicity.  I will share about those......to be continued
