From the website:
This new series of books will get little ones excited about going green. From recycling and replanting to creating an awareness of endangered animals and much more, Little Green Books plant the seeds for earth-friendly living at an early age. Each book in this environmentally friendly line is made from recycled materials - proving our commitment to this worthy cause.
When my four books arrived my 13 year old daughter and I quickly opened the package and began looking over the books. My first impression was "Wow, these are really nice! I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to review these top-notch books."
This book covers different places that a child may visit: park, beach, school, garden, and suggests ways the child can help keep it clean.
It has double-sided puzzle pieces on each page that can be removed to make 2 puzzles on the back page. My daughter suggested a pocket in the front of the book for the puzzle pieces after they have been removed from each page. They don't stay well on the puzzle page or their original spot they came from.
It is a very colorful and fun book!
"Don't Throw That Away" uses a small girl who is portrayed as a "super-hero" leading the reader on an adventure of how to reuse everyday items. One suggestion is to use a glass jar as a vase. Each page has a flip tab to see what the item can be recycled into. Great suggestions for kids to reuse!
From the four books I chose, this is my favorite. Each page has a little question posed as a poem. You have to guess who the animal is that is hiding under the flap.
The first one says: "I'm black and white, but I don't moo. I'm a fussy eater who likes bamboo." The flap has a little bit of the animal exposed to help you guess. Lift the flap to see if you have guessed correctly. My daughter and I had some laughs with this one!
Now a book designed for a baby. The cover is made of Polartec fleece from recycled material. It is very soft. The story is about a cute little monkey and his panda friend who asks to be the reader's friend also. Very adorable!
Overall, these books are of highest quality. Each one has it's own charm. I love that they are made from recycled material, use fun ways to educate about taking care of the Earth, small for little hands to enjoy and very durable. These books are a must have!
The website, Simonlittlegreen.com, is just as exciting as the books. It has online games from 3 of the books they offer. It also has downloadable activity pages, Earth Day event kits and more for you to use to spend more time teaching your child about taking care of the Earth. There are tips to help you celebrate Earth Day everyday. There is even a Little Green Blog with much, much more information about being GREEN!
Have I convinced you yet that these books are wonderful? They can be purchased from these locations:

I could have written a book on how to "re-use" [recycle is the term these days] just about anything. I grew up doing just that. When you don't have much to begin with you can make do with anything. My mother didn't throw much away...it was "remade", reused, recycled in some way, or given to someone else who could use it. If we all started doing that today, think of how much longer the "dumps" would take to fill and how much money we all could save.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower via GFC under Swedish Mamas. What interested me the most about Little Green Books were the collection and quality of the product. I spent quite a bit of time browsing the different books and was tremendously impressed by the art work and the language in the books. Succinct and straightforward, but entertaining and educational. My nephews would love this. Please accept this as my mandatory entry. Thank you!

A way that I live green... There are lots of little things I do: I have a rain barrel in my backyard which I use to water my lawn and garden; I grow a lot of my own vegetables during the summer; I compost and create my own nutrient rich soil, etc. etc. Thanks!
