True Treasures Review

Where is the place you go to ‘get away from it all”.  That place that you KNOW no one would dare to follow and intrude?  My place is the bathroom (not very exciting, I know), but it is my place of solitude. But I like to have a few items with me….a hot bath, cool drink of water, a light snack and a good read.   I had all but the good read….what to use to complete this wonderful getaway!

(rewind 20 years)
I remember when I first began home education.  I just HAD to have that magazine to tell me what to do.  How else was I to know what this thing called homeschooling is supposed to look like?  As the hard days turned into harder weeks, rolling into “what have I gotten myself into” months…I was so discouraged.  MY home school looked NOTHING, not even close, to what those “perfect” families did in THAT magazine!  I began to honestly open up to others to find out what I was doing wrong.  Come to find out, those perfect little families don’t exist!  The articles I read were about days that happen….oh, when Venus lines up correctly with Mars! Everyone I talked with had very similar difficulties I did.  WHEW!  I’m not a total screw up!
I got rid of those “this is what a day should look like” magazine and vowed to NEVER pick one up again.

(back to present)
So I'm checking my email and I open up one from a group called Gabby Moms  looking for mom bloggers to "gab" about a mom's life!  I like to gab about my kids, home schooling, home making, marriage and all!  I love to blog, review items....
Sounds nice, fun…sure why not?

Then I get this beautiful magazine wrapped in a pretty bow called True Treasures to review
…..OH. NOOOOO….my palms start to sweat, my mouth goes dry, my stomach gets queasy and I feel a migraine coming on...... A magazine with a frilly bow?…are you kidding me?  Not another one of THOSE magazines!  But because I already said I would do this, I WILL do this.

 Ready?….  (not really)

hot bath (check)
cool drink (check)
light snack (check)
good read…????

Ok, ok, I’ll take True Treasures into my place of solitude.

AHHH….so relaxing

Wait a minute…..

As I read it seems that these ladies have been peeking in on my life!   I could have written most every one of them!  From the very first one by Mrs. Lorrie Flem about how God is continually molding us into his image to the very last by Cindy Rushton where she confesses about a life that takes control because of busyness.  As I turn the pages (and into a prune) I mumble, “uh-huh, oh-yea, been there, done/said that, wish I did that better” and on and on.  These ladies write reality.  They don’t paint this perfect picture of  their lives, but open up with honesty and vunerability that is rare.  I was actually encouraged, instead of feeling like I had totally missed the boat….

What I liked the most is that each article describes what life “should/could” be, but doesn’t leave you wondering “how?”.  Whether it be home making, parenting, marriage, home schooling, you are given practical ways to improve.  To be all that you can be (no, it’s not the army )

So what is True Treasures?
It is a compilation of the “best of the best” from 10 years of TEACH magazine.

Did you know that TEACH stands for : To Encourage And Challenge Homemakers?  I had never read anything from TEACH before True Treasures….I would say that they have succeeded in fulfilling their name!

At the beginning of 2011 TEACH magazine has changed it's name to Eternal Encouragement.

I received this product for honest review from TEACH Magazine as a part of The Gabby Moms blogging program.  All opinions expressed are solely my own.
