The winner is Lynne with comment #18....
Congrats to you Lynne!
ENJOY
This whole Gabby Moms review program is turning out to be very taxing on my emotions.
Last month when I found out I was reviewing a magazine called "True Treasures" I was shaking in fear.
Now this month I've been asked to review an e-newsletter entitled Encouraging Moments and I'm filled with the feeling of
As I was preparing to bow out of this month's review, I felt a gentle prompting in my spirit. That still small voice saying to me: "ok,'know-it-all'....maybe, just maybe, some mom/wife/home schooler in this big-wide-wonderful world that I've created actually LIKES e-newsletters! AND needs some encouragement! Ever think of THAT?"
God has been teaching me that just because I believe or like something differently than someone else doesn't make them wrong...just different. So, I decided to take a step back and look at this e-newsletter for content.
So to the desktop I go, 'cuz my laptop is taking a vacation.....(I'm sure there a lesson for me there, but I'm going to wait on exploring that one!)
When I opened it up the first words I see are: "Dear Cindy".....good start...nice and personal!
First sentence reads: "Spiritual strongholds are sinful ways of thinking that have probably been part of our personality for so long we hardly even see them" Again I hear that still small voice asking, "Could this be like thinking everyone has to think/feel/believe the same as you do or they are wrong?" Sounds like this e-newletter has something in it I need to read.....
Continuing on-----
I am reminded that I need to "take out the garbage" that feeds that wrongful thought and replace it with a "Bible bath". Read, study, meditate and memorize God's Word daily until it comes a part of me.
Nothing really earth-shattering or new. I KNOW all that, but do I LIVE all that? The knowing part comes easily to me, but the living part, um, not so much.
The newsletter continues with some advertising of products offered at Eternal Encouragement Magazine, Lorrie's speaking schedule, quotes from Facebook, a section called Chick Flicks for Mom, another article with link about staying within a budget which talks about a favorite author of mine, Dave Ramsey!!! (I am offering a giveaway of his book The Total Money Makeover w/workbook here ).
This weekly encouragement is "short and sweet". You can read it in probably 10 minutes or less. Who doesn't have 10 minutes a week to be encouraged?

My lack of enjoying digital books leads to a blessing to someone reading this.
I am giving away a prize I won of $25.00 to Eternal Encouragement's e-store!

“I am reviewing Encouraging Moments as an official member of The Gabby Moms blogging program for Eternal Encouragement magazine. I did not receive compensation for this post and all opinions are solely my own.”
Your post gave me a chuckle! :) Fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat review!
Blessings,
Jada (another Gabby Mom)
I am new at reading e-books and things like that but I am really starting to get into them. And if I want to get into something a little deeper all I do is print it off and put it in a binder so I can hold it in my hands, high light and things like that. :D
ReplyDeleteI love your honesty. She does know how to speak to our hearts doesn't she. :D
I would actually love to win. There are several books I would love to read from the e-store but we are on a very fixed income.
But you should try out an ebook or two...you never know...you might just like them! :D

I wouldn't mind taking that off your hands. **grin**
ReplyDeleteWe all like different things, and there is nothing wrong with that. :)
Cindy, I love your review and I had similar feelings. I delete almost every newsletter. Yet, I was encouraged because I gave Eternal Moments a chance!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I'm now following you too!
Oh, and thank goodness... this week isn't so busy!
Its always good to listen to that "still small voice." Enjoyed your honest review.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind eBooks, as long as it isn't something very technical or requiring a lot of brain power for planning, etc. This would be fun! Thank you for donating this to someone else who would appreciate it more. This is very thoughtful of you!

For the longest time I refused to deal with E anything....but I'm beginning to come around.....very slowly. LOL I think that e-readers are helping. I really want one :) Anyway, Great review!!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought your review was funny! I have to agree, e-books are not my most favorite. Maybe one day when we get that ipad we dream about. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to win, as there are several books I have been eyeing for a while! Thanks for the giveaway!
