I have been reading through the books of the minor prophets in the Bible recently. Amazingly what I am reading sounds like what is happening all around me---people living for themselves, enjoying pleasure more than what is right, wars, unjust courts, odd weather patterns, an over abundance of disease, wrong and right confused....I could go on and on.
There is nothing new under the sun. Man is still man, but more importantly God is still God and THAT, my friend, is my hope.
In their day, even these prophets wondered if God knew what was going on and how long He was going to let it continue. They were reminded, even as I am, that God is very merciful not wanting anyone to perish. He is long suffering, giving each one of us the opportunity to repent and turn to Him. BUT He leaves the choice to us.
Let me share with you a few verses from my readings:
Tearing your clothes is not enough to show you are sad; let your heart be broken.
Come back to the Lord your God, because he is kind and shows mercy.
He doesn’t become angry quickly, and he has great love. He can change his mind about doing harm. (Joel 2:13 NCV)
The Lord has told you, what is good; he has told you what he wants from you:
to do what is right to other people, love being kind to others, and live humbly, obeying your God. (Micah 6:8 NCV)
The Lord is good, giving protection in times of trouble. He knows who trusts in him. (Nahum 1:7 NCV)
The evil nation is very proud of itself; it is not living as it should. But those who are right with God will live by faith. (Habakkuk 2:4 NCV)
The last part of the verse above , "but those who are right with God will live by faith." is quoted 3 times in the New Testament.
Faith is reason at rest with God......
My business is to have that faith,
God's is to do His will.........
so let's 'mind our own business' and let God mind His.
My business is to have that faith,
God's is to do His will.........
so let's 'mind our own business' and let God mind His.
Even so come, Lord Jesus.
