The Christian Mom's Idea Book Review

With Mother's Day just around the corner I've been looking through old pics of my kids and embarrassing them by posting them on Facebook.  Hey, it's what good moms do...which leads me to this review.

I received this book, The Christian Mom's Idea Book, from Crossway.  As a blogger for Crossway I am sent a book periodically to review.  I never know what they are going to send.  When I opened this one and began reading I knew that I was NOT a 'good' mom.  I was mediocre.  I was there for them but I didn't really ENJOY them.  I thought I did at the time, but looking back I rarely TOOK time to just BE with them.  I was always 'mothering'.

Anyway, this is a good book if you don't want to look back and realize that you didn't really take TIME and have FUN with your kids.  DO IT NOW,  because they will be grown, gone and giving you grandkids that you VOW you WILL enjoy no  matter how far away they live or how much it costs or how much time it takes to be a part of their lives.

Here's the 'blurb' about it from Crossway.org:

You can make the most of motherhood with this resourceful book. It's jam-packed with 500 ideas gathered from more than 80 mothers just like you: mothers of preschoolers, high schoolers, and every age in between. Mothers with one child. Mothers with a houseful of children. Mothers with adopted children. But most of all, mothers with a great desire to raise godly kids-and have fun at it too!
You'll get fantastic suggestions for fulfilling the all-important role God has given you, including:
  • throwing a great birthday party
  • handling doctor's visits
  • planning alone time & getaways
  • disciplining
  • practicing hospitality
  • babysitting
  • successfully surviving car trips
  • dealing with toddlers
  • teaching music lessons
  • menu planning & grocery shopping
  • keeping your marriage alive
  • spiritual nurturing
… and so much more in nearly 40 categories. Here is everything you need to provide a safe, nurturing environment for your family-and to make your home a wonderful place to be.

I've got to say this is one book you won't regret buying IF you actually read it and implement even ONE of the great ideas in it!  I am going to give it to the mother of my granddaughter (yea, that would be my daughter) as a Mother's Day gift.  Even though I know she'll be a much more involved in the fun mom than I was, I'm confident she'll get some cool ideas to continue to be a super mom.

* I received a complimentary copy of this book from Crossway for my honest review.
