Very hard to grasp that today is the first of November. This is a tough time of year for me...summer is gone and the long, cold winter approaches. UGH!
As I rolled over in bed groaning I felt a prick in my spirit to be thankful. Are you kidding me? I thought...thankful for ??????? And at once my mind flooded with all my amazing blessings.
I decided that I would take this month of Thanksgiving to be intentional in giving thanks. If you know me, I lean towards the negative, so this could be a tough assignment. I also am lazy and have great ideas that I don't follow through with....so let's see how this goes....
While lying in bed gazing out the window upon a gray, dreary, rainy day this song came to mind:
Oh Happy Day when Jesus washed my sins away.
How can I NOT be thankful?
This could be a sad month for me, too. I'll be another year older! And it was the month 2 years ago that I entered my single life. But I can think of hundreds of reasons to be thankful and I think if you give it more thought, and get off that negative roller coaster, you will also have hundreds of reasons to be thankful. So...I expect to see some of those "100" on here!
ReplyDeleteThere shall be showers of blessing:
ReplyDeleteThis is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.
Refrain:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.
There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.
There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honor Thy Word.
There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!
There shall be showers of blessing,
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.
