BIG Truths for Little Kids Review & Giveaway

This title isn't kidding....inside this book is definitely BIG truths!  But these truths are foundational ones that every Christian should know.  Sadly,  most don't.  Even though the targeted age is 5 - 8, I would recommend this for all ages.

Based on Westminster's Catechism, the 36 chapters follows a family as they try to teach their children fundamental Bible truths.

The authors' purposes for this book are:
  • To teach children that they are created for God's glory
  • To show some practical implications of this life purpose
  • To repeatedly emphasize to children their need for God's grace to glorify Him
The only thing I would add to the suggested use of the book is to have your child memorize the verse at the end of each chapter.  It's good to know the answers to the catechism questions, but even better to know WHERE in the Bible to back up those answers.

I would say that this book would be a great resource as a family devotional.  One that could be used over and over.  You would be giving your children a great gift---a Biblical worldview.

  3. I didn't memorize catechism I believe you teach by action. I did memorize my LDS faith's Articles of faith there are 13 of them. I do believe that children really do need to be instructed in what is right and what is wrong, and offering acts of service to their fellow men.

  20. I learned from my Grandmother that in times of extremely stress, pain, trouble, etc. (and really anytime), to turn to the Lord and to recite His words. Her favorite was The Lord's Prayer and in the moments before she died, her lips were mouthing the words. I have several phrases that bring me comfort when I feel alone, for they remind me that He is always with me and that whatever He brings me to, He will bring me through. Yes, I may not always remember the exact book, chapter, and verse, but the words to me are what is most important.
