Getting Out of Bed in the Morning review

At first look, this title was intriguing to me.  I do not like mornings...I never have and I suspect I never will.  But then I read how this book came to be at the author's blog, Broken Psalms and realized that I really have no reason whatsoever to dislike mornings...not like she has.

This book came about after Alice Wisler lost her young son. Her grief was, well, as you can imagine, overpowering.  This book is her cry to God in one of the hardest times of her life.

It is written as a devotional to help walk you through a loss.  It could be any loss you are experiencing.  In 40 short chapters, you will be encouraged on how to continue on.

There is nothing mind-blowing here, no theological masterpieces, just a woman who wants to hold your hand, give you a hug, offer hope when you can't seem to find any.

I have to say that I struggle this time of the year.  I am tired of winter and get what some call "winter-blues".  This book was a bright shining of 'yellow' into my winter-blues!  I recommend it to anyone who just needs a bit of a pick me up, dust me off and keep me going push!
