For One Another 2014 Challenge: Serve One Another

Yesterday's challenge was to speak 3 powerful words...."I Love You".  But speaking those words is not enough...action is required.

The Bible speaks of the greatest love in John 15:13:

Greater love has no one than this,
that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Jesus, the perfect example gave His life for us.

There are men and women serving and loving us daily in the military.  Some even giving their lives.  The sacrifices they and their families make is incomprehensible to me.  Stop and think about the little things you enjoy everyday with your family...the things that you don't usually notice:

  • a "good morning"
  • sharing a cup of coffee
  • a smile
  • having a meal together
  • a warm embrace
  • laying your head next to theirs at night
  • a wave
  • laughing
  • even arguing
Oh soooo many more 'little' things.  Yet there are thousands who have chosen to serve YOU and miss out on all of that.

Take time today to say thank you.

You can write a letter, a card or even send a package. Operation Gratitude is a great place to start.

If in your daily life you happen to see someone dressed in military attire, stop and acknowledge your gratefulness to them with a smile, handshake, hug or a simple thank you.

But most importantly.....

PRAY FOR THEM

  1. So true. They miss birthdays, weddings, holidays, watching their infants grow into crawlers/toddlers, etc. At least these are some of the things our Marine has missed during his two tours overseas. Praise God he is back safe and sound...and yet, still serving, so still dealing with the pressures of the military.
